The Papermania Sweet Nothings Collection
Friends are so important to all of us, and there are none more special than our close girlfriends. So lets go all-out girlie pink with this new Sweet Nothings collection from Papermania, perfect for making gorgeous cards and albums for our girlfriends birthdays, as a thank you card, or any other special occasion and dont forget your scrapbook pages and ATCs!
The designs in this collection consist of sugary sweet cupcakes and hearts to muted dots and stripes, which look amazing when combined across the products of chipboard shapes, papers, acetate sheets, felt ribbons, clear stamps and stickers too. Add some chipboard and adhesive ribbon to your designs to create girlie gifts and cards that will be adored by their recipients.
Ive made a mini album and some cards, but the range would also look amazing on ladder books, gift tags or gift boxes or bookmarks. |

Cute Cupcake Card
For the cute square cupcake card, first I trimmed a piece of this cute cupcake patterned Sweet Nothings paper slightly smaller than the card front and adhered it to the card by adding four small brads in the corners. I then stuck a piece of the heart design Sweet Nothings sticky ribbon along the bottom of the card, tying some pink BasicGrey fibers over the top, securing inside with small pieces of tape. I then cut a circle using an X-Cut shape cutter and circle template, inked up the edges and stuck this on top using 3D foam pads. On to this I stuck the Sweet Nothings chipboard cupcake and striped brackets. Of course, you could also add lettering or words across here, to make the card appropriate for your occasion.

Happy Birthday To You
This pretty yet simple A6 card is made by first mounting two pieces of contrasting Sweet Nothings patterned paper on to a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than an A6 card. I inked up the edges of the pieces of paper before sticking and cut the paper to leave a slight white border. On this white edge, Ive doodled my striped border (see below for more details on this).
I added small black brads to the four corners and tied a piece of ribbon around the panel then mounted it on the card using 3D foam pads. I then cut out the heart message rectangle from one of the pieces of patterned paper and double-mounted this on to white cardstock and more plain pink patterned paper, inking up the edges and adding a doodled dot-dash border. I then added the Happy Birthday greeting from another piece of patterned paper and the to you using Sweet Nothings alphabet stickers to finish.

Girlie Tag
First I cut a simple tag shape from white cardstock and covered it with two pieces of contrasting patterned paper. I glued ribbon across the tag to cover the paper join and tiedribbon and BasicGrey fibers through the hole punched in the top. I then added Sweet Nothings chipboard shapes and spelt my friends name with Doodlebug rub-on letters

Doodled Borders
Adding stark black and white doodling to create a frame or simple detail is a quick, yet so effective way to add interest to cards and projects. To doodle around a panel of paper or card, glue the panel securely on to white cardstock. Draw doodled lines with a Whispers brush marker, colour in alternate squares, and then trim using scissors for a random look, or a paper trimmer for a more linear appeal.
Use a Whispers ink pad to run lightly around the edge of the doodles to add depth and definition, before adhering the panel to your project. | |

 | Sweet Nothings Best Friend Mini Book
This mini book is made by linking three squares of Papermania white cardstock with interlaced ribbon. The pages can be folded in on themselves, creating a mini album, which makes a great alternative to a birthday card. I used an X-Cut shape cutter carriage and a square template to cut three 8 x 8cm squares from white cardstock. To create definition on each page, I ran a dark purple ink pad around the edge of each, front and back. The three squares were then lined up in a row on an X-Cut cutting mat to ensure they were straight. I left a gap of 1cm between the squares to allow room to move. I then cut six lengths of ribbon, each measuring 6cm long. Three ribbons were stuck across the join between the first and second squares, sticking the ribbon ends on top of the first square and the bottom of the next. The other three were stuck between the second and third squares, again running from the front of the second square to the back of the third. This helps create an interesting woven effect. To add more pages, simply add more squares and extra ribbon. To make the front cover, I cut a white square of paper measuring 7 x 7cm, inked the edges and mounted it on to white card. I added doodle detail and matted it to a square of pink paper. Pieces of inked-up patterned paper were added to the front of the square, along with stitched-on buttons, rub-on lettering and a chipboard flower. I tied a bunch of funky fibres through an eyelet and attached this cover to the book with foam pads to cover any ribbon. Various pieces cut from other sheets of patterned papers were used to make the other gorgeous mini pages, using the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment and the 'Love From' panel to create instant messages. These were decorated with eyelets, brads and more rub-on letters. I also made use of the 'Sweet Nothings' chipboard shapes. These can quickly bring little pages to life, especially when combined with strips of sticky ribbon, buttons, BasicGrey fibers and touches of glitter. You can have a lot of fun personalising your pages!

Clear Winners with Sweet Nothings
Birthday Cupcake
Time: 10 minutes
1 Cut some cupcake acetate to 3.5 x 3.5", making sure there's a cake in the centre of the square.
2 Cut a 3 x 3.25" rectangle from the top right corner of a pale green A6 card blank. Adhere the cupcake acetate behind this gap, using doublesided tape along the edges.
3 Stick a rectangle (3 x 4") of cupcake paper to the bottom of the card's front. Add a 1" strip of striped paper to the left-hand edge and add a chipboard 'Sweet Nothings' pink strip.
4 Mount the 'Happy Birthday' die-cut to white card and cut out. Add three pink brads to the bottom right corner. Adhere to the bottom of the card using Stick It! 3D foam dots.
5 Tie pink ribbon down the left side of the card. Colour the icing on the acetate cupcake with Whispers permanent pens, and colour the cherry on the cake in with red Glitz It glitter glue.
Thank You Party Bag
Time: 25 minutes
1 Cut a piece of gingham acetate to 6 x 12" and fold, leaving 2" at the top. Stick the edges together using double-sided tape.
2 Fold down the top flap, punching a hole at each end of the fold using the Crop-A-Dile. Tie a length of green ribbon for the handle, threading it through these holes.
3 Hold the top of the bag together and punch another two holes in the centre of the flap 2" apart, using a piercer. Secure with pink ribbon and tie in the polka dot chipboard tag.
4 Adhere a chipboard cupcake, flower and button to the tag.
5 Rip the top edge off a piece of 3 x 6" striped paper and stick to the bottom of the bag.
6 Adhere a 1" strip of pink paper to the centre of the stripy paper. Then, using some cardstock stickers, spell out the words 'thank you' on the pink strip. Tie pink ribbon around the bottom of the bag to finish.
