Aubrey Bumper Pack

Sad to say, I don't often go 'ga ga' over a product these days. So, when the new Aubrey Collection arrived from Creative Imaginations in the US, I was pleasantly surprised that I couldn't take my eyes off it!

We decided to pack the elements into a 'Bumper Pack' as there was limited availability and we wanted to make sure no-one was disappointed by missing out on a vital element of the pack.

I found myself drifting into the craft room all day as the packs were being made up. I just couldn't resist the bright colours and designs!

It wasn't long before I found myself challenged to come up with some ideas, so I set off home with an Aubrey Bumper Pack and an hour timeslot to complete as many projects as possible.

I really wanted to use just the Aubrey Bumper Pack, to show what amazing value it is and how flexible the contents are.

As you will see I am a little rusty (too much time at a desk and not enough time in my craft room!), so be gentle with me...

Having never made a scrapbook page before, I decided to start here. I had a picture of my Niece on my Fridge that was begging to be used for this project as the colours were perfect!

Not being a great photographer, the composition of the picture wasn't great, so I decided to mask off the unwanted elements.

Starting with a base of mauve Bazzill cardstock, I cut a contrasting lilac sheet diagonally across. I stuck this down and tucked the photo into the join, to hide the 'bad bits'.

Next I chose two of the patterned cardstock sheets and cut 10cm border strips for each side, one with a plain edge and one with a scalloped edge.

I chose rub-ons that suited Jasmine's personality & they way I feel about her and used these, along with some border rub-ons.

Finishing touches were a brad, chipboard embellishment, epoxy sticker and some teeny tiny buttons (from an old baby outfit).

I felt this page used a little of each of the elements from the bumper pack, without 'overloading' the page.

Time taken: 20 mins. Phew!
Live Life to the Fullest!

When you first pick up the Aubrey Bumper Pack, it is easy to get carried away with the gorgeous pinks and purples and floral designs. So, before I went all 'girlie', I decided to make a 'masculine' card.

My Brother starts a new job next week, so I thought the 'Live life to the fullest' chipboard embellishments would be a good place to start.

Whilst the pack contains floral cardstock, the reverse designs are very funky. I chose the striped paper, as there was a brad to match in the pack.

I started off with a sheet of 12 x 12 Bazzill cardstock & cut it in half with the only accessory I was allowed - my trusty paper trimmer! I creased a fold ready for an A6 card, which left an extra flap. Rather than cut this off, I quickly changed the blade on my trimmer and cut diagonally with a scalloped edge.

Next I cut a panel of the striped card to fit the front of the card and glued this in place. I attached the chipboard embellishment in the top left hand corner.

After flicking through the run-on swatch book, I found a border with funky circles to match the chipboard embellishment. I quickly added this to the front flap.

The card was finished with the striped brad.

My next inspiration came from the little tag stickers. I loved the messages, so I decided to make these the centre of the next card project.

The Bazzill card has great texture and I didn't really want to cover it up, so I compromised with covering half of the front of the card with a funky circle paper. Not having any ribbon or rik rak was hard, but I managed to cut a strip of contrasting card with my trimmer. Using the scalloped edge blade give a ric rak effect.

Again, without ribbon I was stick for the tags. However, if you cut a rally thin sliver of card, you can emulate ribbon for the tags.

I finished off with a rub-on border and a couple of epoxy stickers.

You inspire me

For a really quick 10 minute make, I used 3 pieces of Bazzill cardstock with complementing grain effects.

I used the blue card with a 'dapple' effect for the card blank. The, using my trusty paper trimmer I cut 2 panels for the front with scalloped edges.

The sides of the panels were easily decorated with rub-on borders and the chipboard tag adorned with cardstock 'ribbon'.

With my hour rapidly running out, I devolved into typical 'girlie' mode and could no longer resist the floral designs.

I cut a simple 5" square card blank from Bazzill cardstock and covered the front with a 4.5" square panel. (I cheated here and inked the edges with the purple pen that was lurking on my craft table!)

I selected a 'Love' brad and epoxy embellishment and positioned these on the front of the card.

Another final cheat was a button for the centre of the flower. I just couldn't resist!

Sadly I ran out of time...

Sadly my hour was up, but I was quite happy with what I had managed.

To be honest, after one scrapbook page and four cards I had hardly touched the pack. There are so many stickers and embellishments! The rub-on book is packed with designs, so you don't feel the need to be frugal.

I can confidently say I could have made at least 20 cards from this pack, or a dozen scrapbook pages.

We do have top up cardstock packs and even some funky bare chipboard to go with this kit, just in case you wanted extras!

Now that I've been inspired, I'm off out with my camera.....		Sadly I ran out of time...
